#112 Resilience, creative joy & loving nature with Kes Otter Lieffe

Hey everyone,

I’m so happy to bring this episode your way! It’s given me a lot of joy & hope to listen back just now and I hope you’ll feel the same. Kes is an absolute creative community building dream babe and has also been on episode #27. Here is some of what we talked about:

  • How the pandemic has changed creative lives
  • Making things more accessible & opening up new possibilities
  • Writing powerful trans women and radical sex workers
  • Our love for life & non-human nature

Kes Otter Lieffe is a working class, chronically ill, femme, trans woman. She is an author, teacher and community organiser currently based in Berlin.

Kes is the author of a trilogy of trans feminist novels—Margins and MurmurationsConserve and Control and Dignity. Her short story Synergy was published in ‘Our Entangled Future’ an anthology on social change and the climate crisis. Her short story Soft was published in the beautiful anthology on queer resilience, Glitter + Ashes. Kes is also the author of the colouring zine, Queer Animals, published by Microcosm, which will be made soon into a full colouring book.

Kes facilitates workshops on subjects including trans-competency, queer ecology and consensus and has taught in various contexts from squats to universities. She also runs writing classes and has an online course, Writing from the Margins.

Hi, I’m Yarrow

I’m a maker, grief companion and tarot reader living on the East coast of Scotland.

I facilitate creative projects and gentle rituals for seasons of loss, make handmade textile magic and host the Grief Glimmers podcast. My wish is to change the culture around grief and death so that we can explore these experiences as gateways into a softer, more embodied life.
